A Collaborative, Client-Centred Approach

At Empowering Health Clinic, we recognise that no two people are alike. That is why every treatment plan is built around you. Our counsellors draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities to create an approach that honours your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. We work alongside you as partners in your healing, providing a safe and confidential space where you can explore difficult emotions at your own pace.

Our practitioners hold advanced credentials and bring decades of combined clinical experience to their work. Several have specialised training in trauma-focused care, couples therapy, and clinical supervision, ensuring that the support you receive is grounded in the latest research and best practices.

Therapeutic Modalities We Offer

Our counsellors are trained in a diverse set of evidence-based and integrative approaches, allowing us to match the right method to your situation. Modalities available at our clinic include:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

A structured therapy for processing traumatic memories and reducing their emotional charge.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems)

An approach that helps you understand and harmonise different parts of your inner experience.

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Research-based techniques for strengthening communication, trust, and intimacy in relationships.

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Practical strategies for identifying and changing unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns.

  • DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)

Skills-based therapy for managing intense emotions, improving distress tolerance, and building interpersonal effectiveness.

  • EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)

A therapy that focuses on attachment bonds and emotional responsiveness in close relationships.

  • Somatic Therapy

Body-centred techniques that address the physical manifestations of stress, trauma, and emotional pain.

  • Hakomi-Informed Therapy

A mindfulness-based approach that uses the body as a pathway to understanding core beliefs and patterns.

Your counsellor may use one modality or integrate several, depending on what will be most effective for your goals. You are always welcome to ask questions about the approaches being used in your sessions.

Individual and Couples Counselling

We offer both individual and couples counselling to meet you where you are. Individual therapy provides a private, focused space to work through personal challenges. Couples counselling creates a structured environment where partners can improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection with the guidance of an experienced therapist.

Whether you are dealing with long-standing patterns or responding to something more recent, our counsellors will work with you to set meaningful goals and track your progress over time. Sessions are available in person at our Victoria, BC clinic or online via secure video for anyone in British Columbia.

Funding and Insurance

Many extended health benefit plans cover sessions with Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) and Registered Clinical Social Workers (RCSW). In addition, some of our practitioners are approved providers for the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), Veterans Affairs Canada (Medavie), and First Nations Health Authority funding. Fees for sessions with a Registered Clinical Social Worker are tax-deductible and GST exempt.
